Installation & delivery

Dimensions are recorded width x height x depth: 600 x 528 x 510 mm — note the Anvil order puts height second, so the last figure is the depth. It is a radiant appliance, so leave clearance above and behind it and keep it away from anything that will not take heat. No weight is recorded.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Will it plug into a normal power point?

No. It needs a 15 amp supply, which is a different plug and socket from the standard 10 amp outlet. Check what is at the position you intend to use before delivery, and budget for an electrician if the outlet is not already there.

Q: What does 'top heat only' mean in practice?

The element radiates downward onto the food from above, so it browns, glazes, melts and finishes. It will not cook something through from cold the way an oven does - it is a finishing appliance for the pass.

Q: What is the point of independent left and right control?

You can run the two halves at different intensities at the same time - browning a gratin hard on one side while something holds gently on the other. Without it you would have to compromise between the two jobs.

Q: Is the height adjustable?

Yes, and on a salamander that is the main control you use. Moving the shelf closer to the element browns faster; moving it away gives you more time. It matters more day to day than the heat setting.
