The Benchstar EF-TE is a benchtop electric doughnut fryer with an 11-litre oil capacity in a 400 x 400 mm stainless steel tank, thermostatically controlled from 30 to 190C with a hi-limit switch behind it. Two nickel-coated wire mesh trays are supplied, and the stainless lid does double duty — a cover overnight and a draining tray during service. The heating element stops automatically when lifted, which makes a full clean-down safe and practical.

Why operators choose the EF-TE

  • Element cuts out automatically when lifted — you can raise the element to clean the tank without the risk of it energising — the feature that decides whether a fryer actually gets cleaned properly
  • Dual-use stainless lid — covers the oil overnight and serves as a draining tray during frying, so it earns its place instead of being stored somewhere
  • 11 litre oil capacity in a 400 x 400 mm tank — a square, shallow tank suited to doughnuts turning flat rather than a deep basket well
  • Wiring bottom grid — filters food waste away from the element, which keeps the oil cleaner and protects the heater
  • Hi-limit switch — an independent safety cut-out above the 190C working maximum
  • Micro-switch for operator safety — the unit will not run when it should not
  • Two nickel-coated wire mesh trays supplied — ready to use, and appropriate for hot oil rather than plain steel
  • Stainless steel structure with drain tap — the oil is drained from the tap rather than by lifting a hot tank

Venue suitability

The EF-TE suits bakeries, doughnut shops, cafes, food trucks and clubs frying doughnuts, churros or similar flat product, where a deep basket fryer is the wrong shape. The 400 x 400 mm square tank is what makes it suited to product that needs turning rather than lifting.

Installation & delivery

It draws its power through a 15 A outlet, not a standard 10 A one. The 15 A plug has a larger earth pin and will not fit a normal socket, so confirm a 15 A circuit is available at the install position or budget for an electrician to add one. Allow 460 x 620 mm of heat-tolerant bench with clearance above to raise the element for cleaning, and access to the drain tap. Site it away from foot traffic and out of any draught that could carry hot oil. Dispatched from our Sydney HQ with partner warehouses in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth for faster delivery Australia-wide. Backed by a 12-month return-to-base warranty — the unit is returned for service rather than attended on site. See our warranty information page for full terms.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Will the EF-TE run from a normal power point? A: No. At 3.0kW it needs a 15A outlet. A 15A plug has a larger earth pin and will not fit a standard 10A socket, so confirm a 15A circuit is available or budget for an electrician to add one.

Q: Why is a square tank better for doughnuts? A: Doughnuts and similar flat products are turned in the oil rather than lifted in a basket. A 400 x 400mm shallow square tank gives the surface area to turn them, where a deep narrow well would not.

Q: What happens when the element is lifted? A: It stops automatically. That means the tank can be cleaned properly without the element energising, which is the difference between a fryer that gets cleaned and one that gets wiped.

Q: What is supplied with it? A: Two nickel-coated wire mesh trays and a stainless steel lid with a Bakelite handle. The lid doubles as a draining tray during frying and a cover overnight.

Q: How is the oil drained? A: Through a drain tap on the tank, so a hot full tank never has to be lifted.

Q: What warranty applies? A: Twelve months, return to base. The unit is returned for service rather than a technician attending on site — reasonable on a benchtop appliance you can transport, but worth factoring into downtime planning.
