The Benchstar GH-820 is a 730 mm electric benchtop griddle with a 10 mm polished mild steel plate and an adjustable thermostat across 50-300C. A removable stainless steel oil tray sits at the front, a splash guard runs around the plate, and separate blue power and yellow heating indicators show at a glance whether the unit is on and whether it is still coming up to temperature. At 4.4 kW it is hard-wired — there is no plug, and a licensed electrician makes the connection.
Why operators choose the GH-820
- Hi-limit thermostat with reset — an independent safety cut-out backing up the main thermostat, so a control fault does not become a runaway plate
- 10 mm polished mild steel plate — holds heat under load and recovers between batches rather than stalling when cold food lands
- Adjustable thermostat, 50-300C — one control across the full working range, from gentle holding through to searing
- Separate power and heating indicators — the blue lamp shows the unit is live and the yellow shows it is still heating, so nobody starts cooking on a cold plate
- Removable front oil tray — pulls out from the front for emptying without moving the griddle off the bench
- Splash guard around the plate — contains spatter so the surrounding bench and wall stay cleanable
- Deep-drawn oil drainage hole — channels fat off the plate cleanly instead of pooling at the edges
- Anti-slip rubber feet — the unit stays put on a stainless bench while the plate is being scraped

Venue suitability
The GH-820 suits cafes, pubs, clubs and hotel kitchens running a fixed griddle station. Because it is hard-wired it is not a unit you move between benches — decide its position before installation, since relocating it later means bringing an electrician back.

Installation & delivery
This unit is hard-wired — it is not supplied with a plug and cannot be run from a power outlet. A licensed electrician must connect it to a suitable single-phase circuit as part of installation. Allow 730 mm of heat-tolerant bench, clearance behind the splash guard, and front access to withdraw the oil tray. Dispatched from our Sydney HQ with partner warehouses in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth for faster delivery Australia-wide. Backed by a 1-year parts and labour warranty, plus a further year parts only when the product is registered within 14 days of invoice — see our warranty information page for full terms.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Does the GH-820 come with a plug? A: No. Benchstar specifies this model as hard wired at 4.4kW, so it has no plug and cannot be run from a power outlet. A licensed electrician must connect it to a suitable single-phase circuit.
Q: What does the hi-limit thermostat do? A: It is an independent safety cut-out that sits behind the main thermostat. If the primary control fails, the hi-limit trips to stop the plate overheating, and it is reset manually once the fault is addressed.
Q: What do the two indicator lights mean? A: The blue lamp shows the unit has power. The yellow lamp shows the elements are actively heating, so when it goes out the plate has reached the set temperature.
Q: How is the oil emptied? A: A removable stainless steel oil tray sits at the front and pulls out, so the griddle does not have to be moved to clean it.
Q: How does it compare with the GH-760E? A: The GH-820 is 730mm with a 10mm plate, a single thermostat and a 4.4kW hard-wired single-phase supply. The GH-760E is 760mm with a thicker 12mm plate, three independent zones, and needs 415V three-phase power at 9kW.
Q: What warranty applies? A: One year parts and labour, plus a further year parts only if you register the product within 14 days of invoice.
