The Benchstar AT-936E is a compact benchtop salamander griller built for finishing, toasting and browning in a commercial kitchen. A durable stainless steel top element sits above a 445 x 250 mm wiring grid, with an infinite switch for continuous running and a 15-minute timer with a bell for timed jobs. At 630 mm wide and 17 kg it runs from a standard 10 A outlet, making it a practical addition to a cafe, pub or bistro finishing line.
Why operators choose the AT-936E
- 15-minute timer with bell — times a finishing job and tells you when it is done, so a busy pass is not relying on someone watching the clock
- Infinite switch with continuous function — run flat out through service or dial the element back for gentler browning and holding
- 445 x 250 mm wiring grid — enough area to finish several plates or gratins at once rather than one at a time
- Rack support on both sides — the grid sets at more than one height, so you can move food closer to or further from the element
- Control knob on the right-hand side — positioned away from the heat zone, so the control stays comfortable to reach mid-service
- Cool-to-touch Bakelite grid handles — the grid can be repositioned during service without reaching for a cloth
- Stainless steel crumb collector — pulls out from the bottom for a fast wipe-down at close rather than a strip-down
- Standard 10 A plug-in — no dedicated circuit and no electrician needed for a normal single-phase kitchen outlet

Venue suitability
The AT-936E suits cafes, pubs, bistros and clubs that need a finishing element on the pass without giving up much bench. It is a benchtop unit only and cannot be wall mounted, so allow for its 630 mm footprint on a heat-tolerant surface with clearance above for rising heat.

Installation & delivery
It runs on a standard 240 V supply through a normal 10 A power outlet, so no dedicated circuit and no hard-wiring are needed. It is a benchtop appliance and cannot be wall mounted — plan for 630 mm of bench on a heat-tolerant surface, with clearance above the unit for rising heat and clear access to the crumb tray at the front. Dispatched from our Sydney HQ with partner warehouses in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth for faster delivery Australia-wide. Backed by a 12-month return-to-base warranty — the unit is returned for service rather than attended on site. See our warranty information page for full terms.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Can the AT-936E be wall mounted? A: No. Benchstar specifies this model as a benchtop unit that cannot be wall mounted, so it needs 630 x 320mm of heat-tolerant bench space with clearance above for rising heat.
Q: Does it need a special power outlet? A: No. It runs on 240V at 2kW through a standard 10A outlet, so no dedicated circuit or electrician is required.
Q: How is the grid height adjusted? A: The unit has rack support on both sides, so the wiring grid can be set at more than one level to move food closer to or further from the top element.
Q: What is the difference between the timer and the infinite switch? A: The infinite switch sets the element's intensity and can run continuously; the 15-minute timer with bell is for timed finishing jobs and signals when the time is up.
Q: How big an area can it finish at once? A: The supplied wiring grid measures 445 x 250mm, which is enough to finish several plates, gratins or toasted items in one pass.
Q: What warranty applies? A: Twelve months, return to base. The unit is returned for service rather than a technician attending on site — reasonable on a benchtop appliance you can transport, but worth factoring into downtime planning.
