The Benchstar UWB-S is a cast iron contact grill and waffle maker producing two 10 x 16 cm waffles per press. A counter-balanced top plate holds itself at any position rather than dropping shut, variable heat control sets the browning, and a removable grease tray catches the run-off. At 1.5 kW it runs from a standard 10 A outlet.
Why operators choose the UWB-S
- Counter-balanced top plate — holds where you leave it instead of slamming shut, so batter is not squeezed out and the plate can be held part-open
- Two 10 x 16 cm waffles per press — rectangular waffles at a serve-ready size, two to a cycle
- Cast iron plates with excellent heat recovery — the plates come back to temperature between presses, so throughput does not fade as service builds
- Variable heat control — set browning to suit the batter rather than working around one fixed temperature
- Removable grease tray — pulls out for emptying, so run-off is collected rather than left on the bench
- Cool-touch Bakelite handle — the top plate can be worked through service without a cloth
- Runs from a standard 10 A outlet — 1.5 kW through a normal single-phase socket, so no electrical work is needed
- Sturdy 17 kg build — stays put on the bench while the plate is being worked

Venue suitability
The UWB-S suits cafes, dessert bars, hotels, clubs and function venues serving waffles as a menu item rather than an occasional special. The counter-balanced plate also makes it usable as a straight contact grill.

Installation & delivery
It runs on a standard 240 V supply through a normal 10 A power outlet, so no dedicated circuit and no hard-wiring are needed. Allow heat-tolerant bench space with clearance above to open the top plate fully, and front access to withdraw the grease tray. We do not publish a width for this model: our supplier records 332 mm in its specification table and 470 mm in its product description, so confirm the bench allowance with us before planning the position. Dispatched from our Sydney HQ with partner warehouses in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth for faster delivery Australia-wide. Backed by a 12-month return-to-base warranty — the unit is returned for service rather than attended on site. See our warranty information page for full terms.
Frequently asked questions
Q: What size waffles does the UWB-S produce? A: Two waffles per press, each 10 x 16cm.
Q: What does a counter-balanced top plate do? A: It holds its position wherever you leave it rather than dropping shut under its own weight, so batter is not squeezed out and the plate can be held part-open when needed.
Q: Can it be used as a contact grill as well? A: Yes. Benchstar lists it as a cast iron contact grill and waffle maker, and the counter-balanced plate and variable heat control suit both uses.
Q: Does it need special wiring? A: No. It runs at 1.5kW through a standard 10A outlet, so no dedicated circuit or electrician is required.
Q: How is the run-off collected? A: A removable grease tray pulls out from the unit for emptying.
Q: What warranty applies? A: Twelve months, return to base. The unit is returned for service rather than a technician attending on site — reasonable on a benchtop appliance you can transport, but worth factoring into downtime planning.
Q: How wide is the UWB-S? A: We do not publish a width. Our supplier records 332 mm in its specification table and 470 mm in its product description, and the two cannot both be right - the recorded carton is 390 mm wide, which a 470 mm unit would not fit. We have asked for confirmation rather than choose between them. Depth (320 mm) and height (225 mm) are consistent across both records.
