The Bezzera BZMODAPID3B is a 3 group espresso machine in black from the Moda DE PID range, 877 mm wide. Three simultaneous extractions for a bar where two groups have become the queue. Recorded at 240 V, 5,500 W and 25 A — hard-wired, not plug-in.

Why operators choose the BZMODAPID3B

  • Independent brewing-unit temperature control via a PID thermostat — the feature the range is named for. A PID holds the group at a set temperature instead of letting it swing around one, which is what makes the tenth shot taste like the first
  • Programmable pre-infusion — wetting the puck before full pressure, which evens out extraction and is normally a feature of far more expensive machines
  • Brewing timer — the shot time on the display, so a barista can see an extraction drifting before it tastes wrong
  • Auto on/off — it comes up to temperature before the first shift and shuts down after the last, which on a machine of this draw is a real running cost
  • Coffee counter — usage tracking, which is what service intervals and stock ordering should actually be based on
  • Automatic group washing program — the backflush runs itself, so the one maintenance job most likely to be skipped gets done
  • Copper-insulated boiler — insulation cuts standing losses, so the boiler spends less energy holding temperature
  • 13 cm cup clearance — special grids under the groups take tall takeaway cups as well as espresso cups
  • Double safety system — a boiler high-temperature cut-off thermostat and a hydraulic overpressure valve, independent of one another
  • AISI 304 stainless steel body with a copper hydraulic system
  • Recorded at 240 V, 5,500 W, 25 A. 25 amps is above any Australian plug, so all three PID machines are hard-wired by a licensed electrician — this is not a plug-in appliance
  • 1 year parts only — labour is not included from day one. Both our warranty records agree on this, so it is stated plainly rather than softened
  • The BZMODAPID2B and BZMODAPID2W are the 2-group builds at 667 mm, in black and white

Venue suitability

A PID machine suits cafes, roasters and specialty venues where shot consistency is the point rather than sheer volume — the temperature control, pre-infusion and shot timer are all aimed at a barista who cares what the coffee tastes like. It needs an electrician before it needs a barista.

Installation & delivery

This machine must be hard-wired by a licensed electrician. Our record reads 240 V, 5,500 W and 25 A, and 25 amps is beyond any Australian power point. Dimensions are recorded width x depth x height: 877 x 550 x 520 mm. No weight is recorded for this listing. One thing to know before you compare listings: we also list a Moda DE range whose records show 5,600 W on a 220—415 V range, against the 240 V/5,500 W/25 A recorded here. The two do not agree, so have your electrician confirm the supply for the exact model you order rather than booking work off either page. Specify water filtration at the same time.

Warranty terms are per product — see our warranty information page.

Frequently asked questions

Q: What electrical supply does it need?

It must be hard-wired by a licensed electrician - at 25 amps it is beyond any Australian power point, so there is no plug-in option. Our record reads 240 V, 5,500 W, 25 A. Be aware that our separate Moda DE listings record 5,600 W on a 220 to 415 V range instead, and the two do not agree. We publish what is recorded against this SKU, and we would rather you had your electrician confirm the supply for the exact machine you order than book work off a page. There is a further reason for caution on this particular machine: its recorded power is identical to the 2-group's, and a third group would normally add load. We publish the figure we hold and would not want you sizing a circuit from it alone.

Q: How many groups does it have?

Three. That comes from the model designation and from its own recorded width - 877 mm against the 2-group's 667 mm, which is about one group's width. We should be straight with you about why we are pointing at the dimensions: the description held against this SKU is the 2-group's text and refers to two steam outputs and to 2-group production capacity, so we have not repeated any of it here. If the exact steam-wand configuration matters to you, contact us and we will confirm it with Bezzera before you order.

Q: What does the PID actually do?

A PID thermostat holds the brew temperature at a set point instead of cycling around it. On a machine without one the group temperature drifts up and down between shots, and extraction changes with it - so the tenth coffee of a rush is not the same drink as the first. On this range each brewing unit is controlled independently.

Q: Is it worth going to three groups?

It depends on your queue, not your volume. A third group buys a third simultaneous extraction, which matters when two groups have become the bottleneck at peak rather than when your daily count is high. Against that, it is 210 mm more bench and the same hard-wired installation.

Q: What warranty does it come with?

One year, parts only - labour is not included, from the first day. Both of our warranty records agree on that, so we are stating it plainly rather than softening it. Budget for a technician's time separately, and see our warranty information page for the full terms.
