The Bezzera Moda DE is a 3-group volumetric espresso machine in black with a 17 litre copper boiler and — notably — a 100 W electrical resistance on each group, double the group heating of the B2016 range. Coffee is brewed through a heat exchange circuit separated from the boiler, so always with fresh water. The body is AISI 304 stainless steel. At 5,600 W this is a hard-wired installation.

Why operators choose the MODADE3B

  • 100 W group heating, not 50 W — double the group heating of the B2016 range. Group temperature stability is what keeps the tenth shot tasting like the first, and this is where it comes from
  • 17 litre copper boiler with electronic level control — the reserve that holds steam pressure through a sustained rush, managed by an electronic control unit rather than a float
  • Heat exchange on a circuit separated from the boiler — coffee is always prepared with fresh water rather than water that has been standing hot in the boiler
  • Heavy-duty internal motor pump — built into the machine and specified as heavy duty rather than a minimum-spec pump
  • Volumetric dosing through an accurate control box — the control box manages the dosing you program, so shot volume is repeatable across three groups and any barista
  • Three groups — three simultaneous extractions for sites where two groups have become the queue
  • 13 cm cup clearance — large working areas and special grids take tall takeaway cups
  • Double safety system — a boiler high-temperature cut-off thermostat and a hydraulic overpressure valve, independent of each other
  • AISI 304 stainless steel body — the grade that survives a decade of wiping down without pitting

Venue suitability

The Moda DE suits high-volume cafes, roasters, hotels and function venues, and its stronger group heating makes it a reasonable choice where shot-to-shot consistency is the priority. At 877 mm it needs real bar length, and at 5,600 W it needs an electrician before a barista.

Installation & delivery

This machine must be hard-wired by a licensed electrician — at 5,600 W it is well beyond any Australian power point, and our data records no amperage, so your electrician will size the circuit from the kW. The supply is recorded as a 220 to 415 V range, which indicates the machine can be configured for different supplies; confirm the configuration with us and your electrician before ordering rather than assuming, and note that 220 V is not an Australian nominal voltage so the range should not be read as an operating figure. Specify water filtration at the same time. At 74 kg it is a two-person lift.

Frequently asked questions

Q: What electrical supply does the Moda DE need?

It is rated 5,600 W and must be hard-wired by a licensed electrician - it will not run from a power point. Our data records the supply as a 220 to 415 V range with no amperage, which indicates a configurable machine rather than a single operating voltage. Confirm the configuration with us and your electrician before ordering, and do not book electrical work off this page alone.

Q: How is the Moda DE different from the B2016 range?

Group heating and power. The Moda DE carries a 100 W electrical resistance on each group against 50 W on the B2016 machines, and draws 5,600 W against 5,000 W for a 3-group B2016. It is also narrower at 877 mm against 960 mm. Boiler capacity is the same 17 litres.

Q: Why does group heating matter?

The group head is where the water meets the coffee. If the group drifts cool between shots, extraction changes - so a heated group is what keeps the tenth shot tasting like the first. Doubling the heater power gives more headroom under heavy use.

Q: What does 'heat exchange separated from the boiler' mean?

The water that becomes your coffee never sits in the boiler. It passes through a heat exchanger on its own circuit, so every shot is pulled with fresh water.

Q: What safety protections does it have?

Two independent ones: a high-temperature cut-off thermostat on the boiler and a hydraulic overpressure valve.

Q: What warranty does the MODADE3B come with?

Covered for 12 months, parts only — labour is not included. Terms vary by product — see our warranty information page for full details.
