The Bezzera Otto is a compact 2-group volumetric espresso machine that does something most 2-group machines cannot: its in-built pump lets it run from a water tank instead of a mains connection, which makes it genuinely viable for food trucks, coffee vans, pop-ups and trade shows. It has an 8 litre boiler, four programmable volumetric doses per group and runs from a 240 V 15 A supply — not three phase.

Why operators choose the BZOTTOCDE2IB1

  • The in-built pump means it can run from a tank — this is the reason to choose the Otto over any other 2-group machine. A conventional machine needs a plumbed mains supply; this one can be fed from a water tank, which is what makes mobile and temporary service possible
  • Two groups in a 500 mm footprint — 2-group production from a machine roughly half the width of a full-size 2-group. If your counter cannot give up 800 mm, this is the compromise that still gives you two groups
  • 240 V, 15 A - not three phase — every other 2-group in this range needs either three phase or a configurable supply. This one runs single phase, which removes a substantial installation cost
  • Four volumetric doses per group — doses are measured by volume with settable quantities and prebrewing, so shots stay consistent between staff
  • Group head heater and electronically regulated solenoid valves — the group is held at temperature rather than relying on boiler heat reaching it, which is what keeps the first shot of a quiet period drinkable
  • Automatic boiler supply with a dry-run cut-out — the element switches off if the boiler runs short of water. On a machine that may be running from a tank, that protection matters more than usual
  • Clears 13 cm cups as well as espresso cups — takeaway cups fit under the group without removing the drip tray
  • Two fully flexible stainless steam and water arms — both arms articulate, which matters on a compact machine where there is less room to work

Venue suitability

The Otto suits mobile coffee operations, small cafes, pop-ups and any site where a full-size 2-group will not fit or where three-phase power is not available. It is the only 2-group Bezzera we carry that can run from a tank and plugs into a 15 A single-phase supply. It is also listed in red and white.

Installation & delivery

240 V, 2,600 W, 15 A — single phase, so an electrician needs to provide a 15 A point but there is no three-phase work. For fixed installation it takes a G 3/8 inch water connection and a G 3/4 inch drain; for mobile use the in-built pump can draw from a tank instead. Dimensions are recorded width x depth x height: 500 x 495 x 535 mm, weighing 57 kg, packing at 600 x 800 x 700 mm. Specify water treatment with the plumbing — scale is the main cause of boiler failure and is not covered by a parts-only warranty.

Warranty terms are per product — see our warranty information page.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Can it really run without being plumbed in?

That is what the in-built pump is for. A conventional espresso machine relies on mains pressure to fill the boiler and feed the groups; the Otto's own pump lets it draw from a water tank instead. That is what makes it usable in a food truck, a coffee van, at a pop-up or on a trade stand. For a fixed site you would still normally plumb it in - the G 3/8 inch inlet and G 3/4 inch drain are there for exactly that.

Q: What electrical supply does it need?

240 V, 2,600 W on a 15 amp supply - single phase. That is worth weighing: the Victoria machines in this range are 415 V three phase and the Moda De is configurable between 220 and 415 V. If avoiding three-phase installation matters to you, the Otto is the 2-group that does it.

Q: Is a compact machine a real 2-group?

It has two groups with four programmable volumetric doses each, a group head heater and an 8 litre boiler, in a 500 mm cabinet. What you give up against a full-size 2-group is boiler capacity and therefore sustained steam recovery under continuous load. For a busy all-day cafe, look at a full-size machine; for mobile service, a small site or a second bar, the Otto is a genuine two-group.

Q: Will takeaway cups fit?

Yes - it clears cups up to 13 cm as well as traditional espresso cups, so you are not removing the drip tray to fit a large takeaway cup.

Q: What colours does it come in?

This listing is the black machine. The Otto is also listed in red and white on our site. The machines are otherwise identical.
