The GasMax GG-48 is a 1200 mm four-burner benchtop gas griddle top — the widest in the GasMax griddle-top family — with a 22 mm mild steel plate and four heavy-duty U-shape steel burners under independent control. At 22 mm the plate holds and recovers heat under continuous load rather than stalling when a full breakfast service hits it. Supplied in two gas builds: natural gas at 120 MJ/h or LPG at 132 MJ/h, both with flame-failure protection.
Why operators choose the GG-48
- 22 mm mild steel plate — substantially thicker than a standard griddle plate — the reason it recovers between batches instead of dropping away under load
- Four independently controlled U-shape burners — run different zones of a 1200 mm plate at different temperatures instead of heating all of it to one setting
- Flame-failure protection — shuts the gas off automatically if a burner blows out, which is the safety feature that matters most on a gas griddle
- Brass valves — the durable choice for gas control, and serviceable rather than disposable
- Widest plate in the GasMax griddle-top family — a full 1200 mm continuous surface keeps breakfast and burger volume moving through peak
- Front grease channel and stainless oil collector — fat is channelled forward and collected, so clean-down is a pull-out rather than a scrape-out
- Stainless body with splashback and three-side splash guard — contains spatter on three sides, which keeps the surrounding fit-out cleanable
- Adjustable legs and 3/4-inch rear gas connection — levels on an uneven floor and connects at the back, out of the working area

Venue suitability
The GG-48 suits high-volume breakfast, burger and teppanyaki service in busy cafes, pubs, diners and hotel kitchens — anywhere a full 1200 mm of plate is genuinely used. Match the gas build to your site's existing supply when ordering; the two builds are separate SKUs and cannot be swapped after delivery.

Installation & delivery
This is a gas appliance: it must be installed, connected and commissioned by a licensed gasfitter to the relevant Australian standards. Do not connect it yourself. It connects at the rear through a 3/4-inch fitting and levels on adjustable legs. At 152 kg it needs a substantial heat-tolerant bench or stand and a multi-person lift, with clearance behind the splashback and at the front to withdraw the oil collector. Dispatched from our Sydney HQ with partner warehouses in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth for faster delivery Australia-wide. Backed by a 2-year parts and labour warranty, plus a further 2 years parts only when the product is registered within 14 days of invoice — see our warranty information page for full terms.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Which gas type should I choose? A: Match your site's existing supply — natural gas for a mains-connected kitchen (GG-48, 120 MJ/h) or LPG for bottled gas (GG-48LPG, 132 MJ/h). Each is a separate SKU and a licensed gasfitter should confirm the connection before installation.
Q: Can I install it myself? A: No. This is a gas appliance, so it must be installed, connected and commissioned by a licensed gasfitter to the relevant Australian standards.
Q: Why does the 22 mm plate thickness matter? A: A thicker plate stores more heat, so it recovers faster when cold product hits it and holds temperature through a sustained service instead of dropping away between batches.
Q: What does flame-failure protection do? A: If a burner is extinguished — by a spill or a draught — it shuts the gas supply off automatically rather than letting unburnt gas escape.
Q: Can the four burners be run at different temperatures? A: Yes. Each of the four U-shape burners is independently controlled, so you can hold different zones of the 1200mm plate at different settings.
Q: What warranty applies? A: Two years parts and labour, plus a further two years parts only if you register the product within 14 days of invoice.
