The Benchstar MAX GH-550E is a 550 mm electric benchtop griddle with a 12 mm polished mild steel plate over a 546 x 348 mm cooking surface. The thicker plate holds heat under a full load and recovers quickly between batches, with an adjustable thermostat across 50-300C, a 2 mm splash guard and a removable stainless steel oil collector at the front. Separate blue power and yellow heating indicators show at a glance whether it is live and whether it is still coming up to temperature. It is rated at 3 kW.
Why operators choose the GH-550E
- 12 mm polished mild steel plate — thicker than a standard griddle plate, so it holds heat under load and recovers between batches instead of stalling
- 546 x 348 mm cooking surface — usable area matched to the cabinet, with no wasted footprint
- Adjustable thermostat, 50-300C — gentle holding through to searing on one control
- Separate power and heating indicators — the blue lamp shows the unit is live and the yellow shows it is still heating, so nobody starts cooking on a cold plate
- Removable front oil collector — pulls out from the front for emptying without moving the griddle off the bench
- 2 mm splash guard — contains spatter so the surrounding bench and wall stay cleanable
- Deep-drawn oil drainage hole — channels fat off the plate cleanly instead of pooling at the edges
- Durable stainless steel heating elements — quick heating and fast recovery through a sustained service

Venue suitability
The GH-550E suits cafes, diners, pubs, clubs and food trucks running breakfast or a la carte griddle service. The deciding factor on this model is the electrical supply, so settle that before ordering rather than on delivery day.

Installation & delivery
Its supply needs checking before installation. At 3 kW it draws about 12.5 A, which is more than a standard 10 A outlet provides, and the rating recorded in our supplier data (13 A) is a British figure rather than an Australian one — AU circuits are rated 10, 15, 20 or 32 A. Have a licensed electrician confirm the circuit rather than assuming a normal power point will carry it. Allow 550 mm of heat-tolerant bench, clearance behind the splash guard, and front access to withdraw the oil collector. At 31 kg it is a two-person lift into position. Dispatched from our Sydney HQ with partner warehouses in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth for faster delivery Australia-wide. Backed by a 1-year parts and labour warranty — see our warranty information page for full terms.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Why does the plate thickness matter? A: At 12mm the plate stores more heat, so it recovers faster when cold food hits it and holds temperature under a full load rather than dropping away mid-batch.
Q: How big is the cooking surface? A: 546 x 348mm of usable griddle plate.
Q: How is the oil collected and emptied? A: A removable stainless steel oil collector sits at the front and pulls out, so the griddle does not have to be moved to clean it.
Q: What do the two indicator lights mean? A: The blue lamp shows the unit has power. The yellow lamp shows the elements are actively heating, so when it goes out the plate has reached the set temperature.
Q: What other sizes are in the MAX griddle range? A: This range runs from 400mm through 550mm, 610mm and 760mm. The largest, the GH-760E, adds three independently controlled thermostat zones and needs 415V three-phase power.
Q: What warranty applies? A: One year parts and labour.
