The Anvil ICD3500 is a double induction cooker with two independently controlled zones — the front plate runs 500 to 1,800 W and the back plate 500 to 1,700 W, so you can hold a sauce on one while searing on the other. It has a glass hob, touch control with a safety lock, a 60 to 240 °C range and electronic overheating protection. It takes pans up to 225 mm and needs a 15 A outlet — not a standard 10 A point.

Why operators choose the ICE-ICD3500

  • 15 A supply required - not a standard outlet — 3.5 kW total means a 15 A circuit. Check this before ordering; it is the single most common reason an induction unit cannot be plugged in on arrival
  • Two genuinely independent zones — front 500-1,800 W, back 500-1,700 W, each controlled separately. Hold on one, sear on the other - which is what makes a double unit worth more than two singles' worth of bench
  • 60 to 240 degrees C — the low end matters as much as the high: 60 degrees C is a holding temperature, so one zone can keep a sauce at service temperature without a bain marie
  • 225 mm plate diameter - check your pans — the induction field is 225 mm. A larger pan will heat only in the centre, which is the usual disappointment with induction
  • Touch control with safety lock — the lock stops a wiped bench from changing your settings mid-service, which on a touch panel is a real problem
  • Electronic overheating protection — the unit protects itself rather than relying on the operator noticing
  • Glass hob, stainless body — wipes clean in seconds - induction's genuine advantage is that spills do not bake on because the surface itself is not the heat source
  • Only 65 mm high — it sits on a bench or drops into a counter and adds almost nothing to the working height
  • 1,300 mm power cord — enough to reach a point without an extension lead, which on a 15 A supply matters

Venue suitability

The ICD3500 suits cafes, small restaurants, front-of-house cooking stations, function catering and any kitchen that needs controllable heat without a gas connection or a canopy over it. Its narrow 300 mm width and 65 mm height make it genuinely portable for events.

Installation & delivery

It needs a 15 A outlet. The two zones together draw 3.5 kW, which is about 14.6 A — above what a standard 10 A power point will carry, so an electrician will need to fit one if you do not have it. That is a small job but a real one, and it is worth confirming before the unit arrives. Note the dimensions are recorded width x height x depth: 300 mm wide, 65 mm tall, 580 mm deep — it is a deep, narrow unit. Induction needs air movement underneath, so do not seal it into a cabinet. Check your pans: they must be induction-compatible (magnetic base) and ideally no wider than the 225 mm plate. Our data records no weight for this model.

Frequently asked questions

Q: What electrical supply does it need?

A 15 amp outlet. The two zones together are 3.5 kW, which is roughly 14.6 A - more than a standard 10 A power point carries. An electrician will need to fit a 15 A point if you do not already have one. It is a small job, but discovering it on delivery day is the most common frustration with induction units at this power.

Q: Will my pans work on it?

Only if they are induction-compatible, meaning a magnetic base - a magnet should stick firmly to the underside. Aluminium, copper and most stainless without a magnetic layer will not heat at all. Also check the diameter: the plate is 225 mm, and a significantly wider pan will heat only in the middle.

Q: Are the two zones really independent?

Yes - each plate is controlled separately, and they have slightly different maximum outputs (front 1,800 W, back 1,700 W). That means you can hold a sauce at 60 degrees C on one while searing at full output on the other, which is what a double unit is for.

Q: Can it hold food at a low temperature?

Yes. The range starts at 60 degrees C, which is a service holding temperature - so one zone can hold while the other cooks, without needing a separate bain marie.

Q: Why induction rather than a gas or electric hotplate?

Two practical reasons in a commercial setting: the surface is not the heat source, so spills do not bake on and cleaning is a wipe; and there is no combustion, so no gas connection and a much lower heat load into the room. The trade-off is that you need the right pans and, at this output, the right circuit.

Q: What warranty does the ICE-ICD3500 come with?

Covered for 12 months. Our records state the duration but not whether labour is included, so confirm the exact cover with our team before ordering rather than assuming it. Terms vary by product — see our warranty information page for full details.
