The Anvil PMA1010 is a 10 quart (approximately 9.5 litre) planetary mixer with five fixed speeds from 193 to 496 rpm, a 0.8 hp air-cooled motor and three attachments supplied — whisk, hook and paddle. Read the manufacturer's volume guide before you buy: it handles 2.5 kg of pound cake mix but only 1.3 kg of bread dough, and dough is where small planetary mixers disappoint people.

Why operators choose the ICE-PMA1010

  • Bread dough limit is 1.3 kg - read this first — 800 g flour and 500 mL water is the manufacturer's own worked example. If you are making bread in volume this is not the machine; if you are whipping, creaming and mixing batters it is well matched
  • Volume guide published in full — mashed potato 1.5 kg, waffle or pancake mix 2 L, pound cake mix 2.5 kg, bread or roll dough 1.3 kg. Manufacturers rarely publish this and it is the most useful sizing information there is
  • Five fixed speeds - 193, 296, 354, 438 and 496 rpm — fixed rather than variable, but five genuine steps across a useful range
  • Three attachments supplied — whisk, hook and paddle in the box. No separate order and no surprise cost
  • Direct drive, gear driven transmission — gears rather than a belt - torque delivered without slip, and a long-life gearbox with grease-packed ball bearings
  • Heat-treated alloy steel gears and shafts — the wear parts are specified properly, which is what determines whether a small mixer lasts
  • Guard fitted with safety micro-switch — the guard has to be closed for the machine to run
  • Air-cooled motor — mixing generates heat and heat is what kills mixer motors
  • 350 mm wide — a genuinely small bench footprint for a geared planetary mixer

Venue suitability

The PMA1010 suits cafes, patisseries, small restaurants and institutional kitchens doing batters, creams, whipping and light mixing. For bread and pizza dough at volume, look at a spiral mixer instead — the 1.3 kg dough limit is the honest boundary of this machine.

Installation & delivery

It runs from a standard 10 A power point, so no electrical work is required. At 0.76 kW it draws about 3.2 A. Note the dimensions are recorded width x height x depth, not the usual order: 350 mm wide, 530 mm tall, 450 mm deep. Allow clearance above the 530 mm height to lift the bowl out and swap attachments — that is the measurement people forget under a shelf. Our data records no weight for this model, so ask our team if you need it.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Will it handle bread dough?

Only 1.3 kg of it - the manufacturer's worked example is 800 g of flour with 500 mL of water. That is a couple of loaves, not a production run. This is a machine for batters, creams and whipping, where it is well matched; for bread or pizza dough at volume you want a spiral mixer, which develops gluten with less friction heat anyway.

Q: What is the volume guide?

The manufacturer publishes it per product: mashed potatoes 1.5 kg, waffle or pancake mix 2 litres, pound cake mix 2.5 kg, bread or roll dough 1.3 kg. It is unusual for a manufacturer to be this specific and it is far more useful than the bowl capacity, because the limit is different for every product.

Q: How big is 10 quarts?

Approximately 9.5 litres. The quart figure is the manufacturer's own; the litre conversion is ours, for planning against a recipe in metric.

Q: Are the attachments included?

Yes - whisk, hook and paddle are all supplied. That is three tools in the box rather than a separate order.

Q: Are the speeds variable?

No, they are five fixed steps: 193, 296, 354, 438 and 496 rpm. Fixed speeds are simpler and there is less to fail; variable speed gives finer control if you need to ramp gently into a mix.

Q: What warranty does the ICE-PMA1010 come with?

Covered for 2 years parts and labour under the manufacturer's Double Gold Star warranty — a branded term, but the substance is a full two years on both parts and labour. Terms vary by product — see our warranty information page for full details.
