The Anvil TSA1009 is a flat-plate sandwich press with cast aluminium plates and a 330 x 355 mm cooking surface — the largest surface of any contact press in this Anvil range. Its adjustable lid prevents thick sandwiches and focaccias being squashed, and it doubles as a grill for burgers and tomatoes.
Why operators choose the ICE-TSA1009
- An adjustable lid, not a spring-loaded one — this is a different mechanism from the panini presses in this range. Those use a spring-loaded plate that floats to the product; this one you set. The practical effect is the same - a thick focaccia is not crushed - but you control it deliberately rather than letting the plate find its own level
- 330 x 355 mm - the largest contact surface in the range — against 340 x 225 mm on a single panini press. It is deeper rather than wider, which suits large or irregular items
- Cast aluminium plates — aluminium heats faster and more evenly than cast iron, at the cost of some heat retention. On a press that is worked continuously, faster recovery between items is the trade being made
- Flat on both faces — no ribbing, so nothing is marked and the whole surface makes contact. That suits toasted sandwiches and flat breads, and it is what makes the press usable as a griddle
- It is explicitly rated for grilling burgers and tomatoes — the source names both, so this is a general contact grill rather than a sandwich-only appliance
- 2.2 kW - about 9.2 A — within a standard 10 amp outlet, though it uses most of the circuit

Venue suitability
This press suits cafes, sandwich bars and counters handling thick focaccias, large sandwiches and occasional griddle work. The 330 x 355 mm surface is the largest in this Anvil contact range, and the flat plates make it a genuine dual-purpose griddle rather than a sandwich-only machine.

Installation & delivery
240 V at 2.2 kW — about 9.2 A, within a standard 10 amp outlet but using most of it, so a dedicated point is worth having. Our data records no amperage; that figure is arithmetic on the recorded wattage. Dimensions are recorded width x height x depth: 355 x 327 x 466 mm deep — deeper than it is wide, so measure the bench front to back. Allow clearance above for the lid. Our data records no weight, and no temperature range is recorded for this model.

Frequently asked questions
Q: How is this different from the panini presses?
Three things. The plates are cast aluminium rather than cast iron, so it heats and recovers faster with a little less heat retention. The lid is adjustable rather than spring-loaded - you set it deliberately instead of letting it float to the product. And the surface is 330 x 355 mm, the largest in the range, and flat on both faces so nothing is marked.
Q: Can I cook things other than sandwiches on it?
Yes - the source specifically names grilling burgers and tomatoes. With flat plates on both faces it works as a small griddle, which is what separates it from a ribbed panini press. If you want grill marks on a panini, the ribbed presses in this range are the tool for that.
Q: Will it handle thick focaccia?
That is what the adjustable lid is for. It is set rather than sprung, so you dial in the gap for a thick item and it stays there instead of pressing down on it. The source calls this out specifically.
Q: What temperature does it reach?
Our data does not record a temperature range for this model - unusually, since the panini presses in the same range record thermostatic control to 300 degrees C. Rather than assume the same figure applies, ask us and we will confirm it with the supplier.
Q: What electrical supply does it need?
2.2 kW, about 9.2 amps at 240 V, so a standard 10 amp outlet. Our data records no amperage - that is calculated from the wattage. It uses most of a 10 amp circuit, so a dedicated point is sensible.
