The Anvil TSS3001 is a double flat top panini press with a flat bottom plate and a 480 x 225 mm cooking surface. Plates are nanocoated heavy-duty cast iron, the top is spring-loaded and self-balancing so it sits level on any thickness, and it is thermostatically controlled to 300 °C. Each side has its own independent heat control.

Why operators choose the ICE-TSS3001

  • Flat top over a flat bottom — flat on both faces, so the whole surface contacts the food evenly and nothing is marked. That suits toasted sandwiches, wraps and flat breads - if you want grill marks on a panini, the ribbed-top version is the alternative
  • Independent heat control per side — two zones on one press. You can run one side hot for paninis and the other cooler for delicate items, or shut one down entirely in a quiet period rather than heating the whole plate
  • Nanocoated heavy duty cast iron plates — cast iron holds and returns heat, which is what marks the bread rather than just warming it. The nanocoating is what stops cheese welding to it
  • Spring-loaded, self-balancing top plate — the plate floats and levels itself to whatever thickness you put under it. Without that, a thick focaccia gets pressed on one edge and missed on the other
  • Thermostatically controlled up to 300 degrees C — set and held rather than a simple on/off element
  • Heat resistant handle — the part staff touch every time
  • Removable drip tray — it comes out to be washed rather than being wiped in place
  • 520 mm clearance when open — measure this against any shelf above the bench - it is the figure people forget until the lid will not open
  • Stainless steel body — wipes down and survives a busy sandwich bench

Venue suitability

This press suits cafes, sandwich bars, delis and any counter toasting to order. The double press gives a 480 x 225 mm surface with independent control of each half, which is what lets one machine cover a busy period and a quiet one. Anvil lists this press with a flat top and with a ribbed top — the plates are the only difference between them.

Installation & delivery

240 V at 3.08 kW on a 15 amp supply. That is above what a standard 10 amp point carries, so an electrician will need to fit one. Dimensions are recorded width x height x depth: 570 x 205 x 378 mm closed — but allow 520 mm of clearance above the bench for the lid to open, which is the measurement that catches people out under shelving. Our data records no weight.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Ribbed or flat top - which should I choose?

It depends whether you want grill marks. A ribbed top presses lines into the bread, which is the classic panini presentation; a flat top contacts the whole surface evenly and leaves the product unmarked, which suits toasted sandwiches, wraps and flat breads. The two presses are otherwise identical - same plates material, same surface area, same power, same body. Anvil lists both.

Q: Will it handle thick focaccia?

That is what the spring-loaded, self-balancing top plate is for. It floats to whatever thickness is under it and stays level rather than pressing on one edge, so a thick focaccia gets even contact instead of being crushed at the front and missed at the back.

Q: How much clearance does it need?

520 mm above the bench when the lid is open. The closed dimensions are much smaller, so this is the figure to check against any overhead shelving - it is the most common reason a press ends up in the wrong spot.

Q: What electrical supply does it need?

3.08 kW on a 15 amp supply - that is more than a standard 10 amp point carries, so an electrician needs to fit one. Worth budgeting before it arrives.

Q: What is the difference between the single and double press?

Surface area and control. The single gives a 340 x 225 mm surface on a 410 mm-wide body at 2.2 kW; the double gives 480 x 225 mm on a 570 mm body at 3.08 kW with a 15 amp supply, and adds independent heat control for each side. The double is the one for a genuinely busy sandwich counter - and the independent zones mean you can shut half of it down when things are quiet.
