The Modular Systems SWBD series is a 304-grade stainless steel commercial work bench with two built-in drawers and a solid undershelf — the all-rounder bench for back-of-house prep, service-side plating, and any kitchen that needs a heavy-duty worktop with on-hand storage. 304 stainless resists corrosion from salt, citrus, and cleaning chemicals, so this bench holds up in environments that would pit cheaper 201-grade alternatives. Eight size options (900 to 1800 mm wide, 600 or 700 mm deep) let you match the bench to the space rather than the other way around.
Why operators choose the SWBD bench
- 304-grade stainless steel — food-grade, corrosion-resistant, suits kitchens handling acidic foods, brines, and chemical cleaning
- Two integrated drawers — keeps utensils, tools, and small wares within arm's reach instead of buried under the bench
- Solid stainless undershelf — a second work surface for pans, prep bins, or bulk storage, keeping the top tidy during service
- Eight size options — 900, 1200, 1500, or 1800 mm wide in either 600 or 700 mm depth, all at a standard 900 mm working height
- Standard 900 mm working height — matches bench-height appliances and avoids the ergonomic mismatch that slows down prep teams

Venue suitability
Suited to commercial kitchens, cafés, pubs, catering kitchens, bakeries, butchers, school canteens, childcare kitchens, and aged-care catering — anywhere a 304-grade work surface with built-in drawer storage helps the team move faster. Pair a 1200 or 1500 with a sink-and-undershelf bench for a compact prep line, or a 1800 for a plating pass.
Delivery & assembly
Flat-packed for freight — ships on a pallet or as oversize parcel depending on size selected. Assembly is tool-light (bolt-together leg frame and drawer slides) and takes one person about 30 minutes. Delivery is kerbside to metro addresses; call our team for regional and remote freight lead times.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Which size should I buy? A: Match the bench width to the workflow it supports. 900 mm suits a single prep station in a tight kitchen. 1200–1500 mm is the sweet spot for most commercial prep lines. 1800 mm suits plating passes, bakery benches, and high-volume prep. Depth: 600 mm is standard; choose 700 mm if you'll store sheet pans or deep prep bins on the undershelf.
Q: Why does 304-grade stainless matter? A: 304 is the commercial-kitchen standard. It resists corrosion from salt, citrus, tomato, vinegar, and common cleaning chemicals. Cheaper 201-grade benches pit and rust in those conditions — you'll see it within a year in a busy kitchen. For a bench that's on the floor 7 days a week, 304 is worth the upgrade.
Q: Is it fully assembled or flat-packed? A: Flat-packed — the leg frame, top, drawers, and undershelf ship as components on a pallet or in an oversize parcel. Assembly is straightforward with a basic spanner set and takes one person about 30 minutes. All fixings are included.
Q: What's the warranty? A: 24 months parts only. Modular Systems covers replacement parts (drawer slides, fixings, panels) for manufacturing defects over the two-year term. Labour is not included — which is fine for a bench (the assembly is simple) but worth knowing up-front.
Q: How does delivery work? A: Delivery is kerbside to metro areas — you'll need a couple of people to get the pallet or carton inside the premises. Regional and remote freight is available; lead times vary by postcode. Call 1300 000 927 with your delivery address for a firm ETA.
Q: Will the 900 mm working height work with my appliances? A: 900 mm is the Australian commercial-kitchen standard, matching bench-height fridges, prep fridges, and under-bench units from all major brands. If you're building a run with bench-height appliances, everything should line up within a few millimetres.
