The Prismafood PRA33 is a pizza shaping machine — a heated press rather than a roller. Its plates run at 130 to 170 °C and the press cycle is 0.1 to 1.5 seconds: the base is formed and set in one movement instead of passed through rollers. It has high thermal conductivity non-stick plates, an interlocked safety guard that prevents the machine starting until the grid is closed, and adjustable thickness. It is a three-phase, 4.75 kW installation and weighs 96 kg.
Why operators choose the PRA33
- A heated press, not a roller - this is the choice to understand — a press forms the whole base in one heated movement; a roller passes dough between two cylinders cold. The press is faster per base and gives a distinctive edge; a roller handles a wider range of hydrations. See the FAQ before deciding
- Plate temperature 130 to 170 degrees C — the heat is what sets the base as it is formed, so it holds its shape rather than springing back. It also means the machine needs warm-up time before service
- Press cycle 0.1 to 1.5 seconds — effectively instant. On a busy Friday the base is formed in the time it takes to place and lift
- Recommended dough temperature 6 to 20 degrees C — the manufacturer specifies the dough temperature, not just the machine's. Dough outside that band will not press consistently - take it from the fridge, not from a warm bench
- Interlocked safety guard and start button — the machine cannot start until the grid is closed. On a heated press with two plates closing under power that interlock is the whole safety case
- High thermal conductivity non-stick plates — conductivity gets the heat into the dough quickly and the non-stick surface releases the base without flour or oil
- Adjustable thickness — set the finished base thickness rather than accepting one setting
- Stainless steel body — the correct material for a machine in a flour-heavy, wiped-down environment
- 470 x 590 mm footprint at 96 kg — a compact machine for its capability, but heavy enough to need a bench rated for it

Venue suitability
The PRA33 suits pizzerias, franchises and high-volume operations forming bases to a consistent spec, and it suits a menu built on one or two base sizes rather than a wide range. If you work across several hydrations and thicknesses, the DSAT420 roller in the same range is the more flexible machine.

Installation & delivery
This is a three-phase machine and needs a licensed electrician — 415 V at 4.75 kW, around 10 A per phase. If three phase is not already at your premises, price that work before you commit, because it can exceed the cost of the machine. Allow 470 x 590 mm of bench plus room to present dough and take the formed base off, and a bench rated for 96 kg. Because the plates are heated, build warm-up into your opening routine — a press at room temperature will not set a base. Keep the dough at 6 to 20 °C: straight from the fridge works, off a warm bench does not.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Press or roller - which should I choose?
A press forms the whole base in one heated movement, in well under two seconds, and the heat sets the dough so it holds its shape. A roller passes dough between two cold cylinders, usually in two stages. The press is faster per base and gives a consistent, distinctive result on a fixed base size; the roller is more forgiving across different hydrations and thicknesses, and needs no warm-up. If your menu is one or two base sizes at volume, press. If it varies, look at the DSAT420 roller in this same range.
Q: Why does the dough temperature matter?
The manufacturer specifies 6 to 20 degrees C for the dough, and it is not a suggestion. Dough warmer than that is slack and sticks; colder and it resists forming and springs back. In practice that means taking dough from refrigeration rather than from a bench that has been sitting in a hot kitchen - which is a workflow point, not a machine setting.
Q: What electrical supply does it need?
415 V three phase at 4.75 kW, roughly 10 A per phase, hard-wired by a licensed electrician. It is not a plug-in appliance. If you do not already have three phase at the premises, get that work priced before ordering - switchboard and supply work can cost more than the machine itself.
Q: How does the safety interlock work?
The machine will not start until the grid is closed - the guard and the start button are interlocked. On a press where two heated plates close under power, that is the feature that makes it safe to operate by kitchen staff rather than by a trained technician.
Q: Does it need to warm up?
Yes. The plates run at 130 to 170 degrees C and the heat is part of how the base is formed, so the machine needs to reach temperature before the first base of service. Build it into your opening routine the way you would a deck oven.
Q: What warranty does the PRA33 come with?
Covered for 2 years parts and labour. Terms vary by product — see our warranty information page for full details.
