The BakerMax EP-1-SDE is the larger Black Panther double-deck pizza oven, running 50 to 500 °C over two 910 x 610 x 140 mm stone decks. Each deck takes 6 x 30 cm pizzas — twelve across the oven — or one large Australian baking tray per deck, which makes it useful beyond pizza. It needs a 415 V three-phase supply at 14.4 kW.
Why operators choose the EP-1-SDE
- 910 x 610 mm decks - 6 pizzas each, 12 in total — half again the deck width of the EP-2E. Note the model names do not tell you which oven is bigger: both are double-deck, and this is the larger
- Fits one large Australian baking tray per deck — that is what takes it beyond pizza into general bakery work, and it is sized for the tray standard actually used here
- 50 to 500 degrees C — a full published range, not just a top figure - so you know it is usable for slower bakes as well as a 500-degree pizza
- Stone sole in each deck — stone drives heat into the base of the dough on contact, which is what produces a crisp bottom
- Top and bottom controls per deck — independent element control, so you crisp the base without colouring the topping early
- Superior insulation — it holds 500 degrees inside rather than radiating it into the kitchen
- Temperature read-out — the actual deck temperature, not a dial position
- Balanced oven doors for safe opening — a counterweighted door on a 500-degree oven will not slam or drop
- Black body with a stainless front panel — presentable where the pizza station is visible to customers

Venue suitability
The EP-1-SDE suits pizzerias, bakeries, clubs and function kitchens producing twelve bases at a time, and the baking-tray capability extends it to general bakery work. At 1190 mm wide, 154 kg and 14.4 kW it is a planned installation with a substantial three-phase circuit.

Installation & delivery
This is a three-phase appliance and must be hard-wired by a licensed electrician — it will not run from any power point. 415 V three-phase plus neutral, 14.4 kW at 28.8 A per phase — a substantial circuit, so confirm your switchboard capacity with an electrician before ordering rather than after delivery. At 154 kg it needs a bench or stand rated for it; check the route against the 1300 x 920 x 900 mm packed size. Leave clearance around the oven for heat and in front for the balanced doors, and confirm extraction with your fit-out — a 500 °C double-deck oven is a significant heat load.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Is the EP-1-SDE a single or double deck oven?
Double deck, despite the '1' in the model name. Both Black Panther ovens on this store are double-deck - the model codes do not indicate deck count, and this is the LARGER of the two. Its decks are 910 x 610 mm taking 6 pizzas each; the EP-2E's are 610 x 610 mm taking 4 each.
Q: How many pizzas does it hold?
Six 30 cm pizzas per deck, so twelve across the oven. Alternatively it takes one large Australian baking tray per deck, which is what makes it useful for general bakery work.
Q: What electrical supply does it need?
415 V three-phase plus neutral, 14.4 kW at 28.8 A per phase, hard-wired by a licensed electrician. That is a substantial circuit - confirm switchboard capacity before ordering.
Q: Why does 500 degrees C matter?
It is what separates a deck oven from a countertop one. A Neapolitan-style base needs 450 to 500 degrees to bake in 60 to 90 seconds. The full 50 to 500 degree range also means the oven is usable for slower bakes.
Q: Which Black Panther oven should I choose?
Count the bases you need at once. The EP-2E gives 8 at 8.4 kW in an 890 mm cabinet; the EP-1-SDE gives 12 at 14.4 kW in a 1190 mm cabinet and also takes a full baking tray per deck. Both reach 500 degrees with stone soles and independent deck controls.
Q: What warranty does the EP-1-SDE come with?
Covered for 2 years on parts and labour. Terms vary by product — see our warranty information page for full details.
