Washmaster makes commercial dishwashers and glasswashers: underbench machines for bars and cafes and passthrough machines for busy restaurant dishrooms. Commercial Kitchen Appliances carries the Washmaster range.
Underbench machines
The Washmaster WM40U is a compact underbench glasswasher rated at 30 racks an hour. At 436 mm wide it is the narrowest of the Washmaster range and fits a bar cavity where a dishwasher will not, and its high-temperature cycles sanitise glassware rather than simply rinsing it. The WM50U is an underbench dishwasher, also rated at 30 racks an hour, 575 mm wide, with a double-skinned door that cuts heat loss and running noise and built-in detergent and rinse aid dispensers.
Passthrough machines
A passthrough, or hood-type, dishwasher lets racks go in one side and out the other, so a dishroom runs as a line rather than a queue at a single door. The WM50H is rated at 60 racks an hour, twice the underbench machines. The WM50HR adds heat recovery: it captures steam to preheat incoming water, which cuts energy use and the steam escaping into the dishroom. It also processes 60 racks an hour, takes glasses up to 45 cm tall and has a drain pump so the waste can be run almost anywhere. The WM50HR needs a 400 V three-phase supply.
Electrical supply
The WM40U, WM50U and WM50H do not record an electrical supply on their listings. A dishwasher's supply is the figure your electrician needs before installation, so confirm it with us before ordering rather than assuming a standard outlet.
Underbench or passthrough?
Underbench machines suit bars, cafes and small restaurants where space is tight and volume is moderate. A passthrough machine suits a dedicated dishroom with inlet and outlet benches, where volume at the end of service would swamp an underbench unit. Count your racks per hour at peak and choose the machine that keeps up.
