GasMax JUS Benchtop Griddles & Chargrills Compared

The GasMax JUS benchtop range gives Australian kitchens a full char-and-flat-top cookline without surrendering floor space to freestanding equipment. Four models cover the ground: the compact JUS-TRG40E single-burner griddle, the wider JUS-TRG60E twin-burner griddle, the JUS-TRGH60E half-chargrill/half-griddle combo, and the JUS-TRH60E twin-burner chargrill on cast bars. All four share a 650 mm depth, 475+60 mm height and ½" gas inlet, with auto ignition and flame-failure shut-off in stainless steel. Cooking surface, gas input and bench width decide the rest. Prices are ex-GST, current at time of writing.

What is the GasMax JUS benchtop range?

JUS is GasMax's benchtop gas cooking series — commercial-grade units that sit on an existing bench or a matching stand cabinet, letting an operator add a grill or flat-top station to a line already committed elsewhere. That suits cafes, food trucks and fit-outs where every millimetre of bench is spoken for.

Two things separate the models. First, surface type: a flat griddle plate for eggs, bacon, onions and smashed patties, or ribbed cast grill bars for char-marked steaks and skewers — or, in the TRGH60E, both at once. Second, width: 405 mm for single-station work, 605 mm for a full service line.

Each model is a separate factory build for natural gas or LPG and cannot be converted between fuels on site — the LPG siblings are JUS-TRG40ELPG, JUS-TRG60ELPG, JUS-TRGH60ELPG and JUS-TRH60ELPG.

The headline: the TRG60E and TRH60E cost the same. Choosing between them is flat plate versus char marks — not budget. The combo TRGH60E asks $255 more for both surfaces in one 605 mm slot, cheaper and more space-efficient than two appliances.

Individual model breakdowns

GasMax JUS-TRG40E — compact single-burner griddle

At 405 mm wide and 21 MJ/h, the JUS-TRG40E is the entry point to the range and the only model narrow enough to slot beside an existing appliance on a tight line. One burner across the full plate, a front-removable drip tray, and the JUS400E stand as an option.

Pros: smallest footprint in the range; lowest price at $1,614 ex-GST; leaves bench space beside it for a fryer or cooktop.

Best for: cafes running cooked breakfasts, food trucks and kebab vans with limited bench. Single-station service — if two chefs work the plate at once, step up to the TRG60E.

GasMax JUS-TRG60E — twin-burner griddle

The JUS-TRG60E doubles the plate to 605 mm and the gas input to 42 MJ/h across two independently controlled burners. That independence matters more than the raw number: hold one half at service temperature while the other runs hot, so eggs are not cooking at steak heat.

Pros: even heat edge to edge across a full-width plate; two-zone control; strong recovery through a sustained breakfast or burger run.

Best for: breakfast-heavy cafes, takeaways, burger lines and teppanyaki-style service. Flat-plate only — char-marked steaks need the TRH60E or the TRGH60E combo.

GasMax JUS-TRGH60E — half chargrill, half griddle combo

The JUS-TRGH60E splits a single 605 mm cooktop into a ribbed chargrill on the left and a flat griddle on the right, one control knob per side, at a combined 49 MJ/h. Sear patties and skewers while eggs and onions cook alongside.

Pros: two cooking surfaces in one bench slot; independent heat per side; replaces two appliances for $255 more than a single-surface model.

Best for: burger bars, cafes, pubs and food trucks with a mixed menu and no room for two units. A high-volume char station wants the full-width TRH60E — half a grill is half the throughput.

GasMax JUS-TRH60E — twin-burner chargrill

The JUS-TRH60E is the heat leader at 56 MJ/h across two burners, laying clean char marks on cast grill bars while fat drains to a removable tray. Run a searing zone and a holding zone side by side across the full 605 mm.

Pros: highest gas input in the range; fast recovery that keeps the bars hot cover after cover; same $2,124 ex-GST price as the twin-burner griddle.

Best for: pubs, steak-led restaurants, burger bars and function kitchens needing a dedicated char station without committing floor space to a freestanding grill. Tighter on bench but still want char? The JUS-TRH40E lava rock grill covers the job at 405 mm and 28 MJ/h.

How to choose the right JUS model

Start with your menu, not your budget. Char marks on steaks and skewers mean a chargrill. Eggs, bacon and smashed patties mean a griddle. Both, in one bench slot, means the combo. Because the TRG60E and TRH60E are the same price, this decision costs you nothing either way.

Then measure the bench. All four are 650 mm deep and 475+60 mm high, so width is the only dimension that decides it: 405 mm (TRG40E) or 605 mm (the other three). Allow clearance for the rear gas connection.

Match gas input to service volume. The 21 MJ/h TRG40E handles single-station service. Once two people work the surface through a peak, you want the 42–56 MJ/h band for recovery — heat that drops between covers and does not come back is the most common complaint from an undersized unit.

Budget the whole install: the stand (JUS400E for the TRG40E, JUS600E for the rest) plus licensed gasfitter commissioning.

Installation, gas supply and warranty

Every model here is a commercial gas appliance and must be connected and commissioned by a licensed gasfitter before first use — natural gas to a reticulated supply, LPG to a compliant bottled-gas setup. The 605 mm models pack to 700 × 750 × 510 mm and clear standard doorways, but plan a two-person lift.

All four carry 2 years parts & labour plus 2 years parts only, conditional on registration within 14 days of invoice — the extension is not automatic. Full terms are on our warranty information page. Orders dispatch from our Sydney HQ, with partner warehouses in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

Financing your GasMax JUS unit

Fit-outs rarely stop at one appliance. SilverChef finance is available to eligible operators, with approvals up to around $65,000 in about five minutes — enough for a JUS unit, its stand and the rest of the cookline in one application.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the JUS-TRG60E and the JUS-TRH60E?

Cooking surface, not size or price — both are 605 mm wide and $2,124 ex-GST. The TRG60E is a flat griddle plate for eggs, bacon and smashed patties. The TRH60E is a chargrill on cast bars at a higher 56 MJ/h, built to sear steaks and skewers with char marks. If you need both, the TRGH60E combo puts half of each on one footprint.

Can a GasMax JUS unit be converted from natural gas to LPG?

No. Each model is a separate factory build for its fuel type and cannot be converted on site. Order the natural gas build (JUS-TRG40E, JUS-TRG60E, JUS-TRGH60E, JUS-TRH60E) for a reticulated supply, or the LPG sibling (JUS-TRG40ELPG, JUS-TRG60ELPG, JUS-TRGH60ELPG, JUS-TRH60ELPG) for bottled gas.

Do I need a licensed gasfitter to install a benchtop gas griddle?

Yes. All four JUS models are commercial gas appliances and must be connected and commissioned by a licensed gasfitter before first use. The ½" gas inlet is a standard commercial connection that suits most existing fit-outs, but the connection itself is not a job an operator can carry out.

Which JUS model suits a food truck?

The JUS-TRG40E for a flat-top-only menu — at 405 mm it is the only model narrow enough to leave usable bench beside it. If the menu needs char marks too, the JUS-TRGH60E combo delivers both surfaces in a single 605 mm slot. Mobile sites will generally need the LPG build.

What warranty comes with the GasMax JUS range?

All four models carry 2 years parts and labour plus a further 2 years parts only, conditional on registering the product within 14 days of the invoice date. The extension is not applied automatically, so register on time.
