Choosing a commercial coffee machine for a Perth café
Volume sizing. A 2-group commercial espresso machine handles 100-200 shots a day comfortably. A 3-group steps up to 250-400 shots. Perth specialty cafés typically run 2-group for opening-year venues, stepping up to 3-group as volume grows. FIFO and mining camp catering (breakfast service to 50-100 workers in a 90-minute window) needs a 3-group minimum, sometimes paired with a batch brew filter system. Temperature stability is what separates good from great. PID temperature control per group head, separate boilers (multi-boiler design), and high thermal mass in the group heads — these are what keep shot temperature within 0.5°C of target. A Perth head barista will absolutely notice the difference between a stable machine and an unstable one in the cup. It's also what justifies a $12-18K machine over a $4K one.
Grinder pairing matters. Budget the grinder at roughly 40-50% of the machine cost. On-demand grinders (grind-per-shot, no dosing chamber) are now standard for quality cafés — fresh grind, no stale coffee oxidising in a doser bin. Don't pair an excellent machine with a cheap grinder; the limiting factor will always be the grind.
Water filtration. Perth municipal water varies by suburb but generally has manageable mineral content with proper filtration. Without filtration, scale will destroy a boiler in 12-18 months. Every commercial coffee machine sold below requires filtered water for warranty cover — usually an Everpure or Brita Professional cartridge system. Filter system pricing is around $400-900 install.
FIFO and remote site reliability. Mining camp coffee equipment lives a different life: hard water, dust, voltage fluctuations, often unattended overnight. For these installs, look for machines with simpler mechanical fault-tolerance and easy field-serviceable components. Specifying the right machine for a FIFO program saves a lot of helicopter callouts.

Common questions
How fast is delivery to Perth?
Commercial coffee machines typically 5-9 working days metro Perth from order. Regional WA 7-12 days. Express options available.
Can you install the machine in Perth?
Yes — install and commissioning is available in Perth metro and most regional WA areas. Half-day onsite for a standard 2-group install. Quote on request.
Do you supply coffee equipment for FIFO and mining camps?
Yes — mining camp coffee programs are part of our regular work. Tell us the site, the daily volume, and the operating conditions (unattended? on-grid? roster pattern?) and we'll spec a reliable setup.
What about water filtration?
Required for warranty cover. We can spec a filter system as part of the order; install is usually combined with the machine commissioning.
What's the warranty?
Manufacturer cover varies by unit — typically 1-5 years on parts and labour. Specific terms on each spec sheet; full details on our warranty page. The WA service-tech network handles in-warranty callouts.
Can I get finance on a coffee machine?
SilverChef finance — approvals up to $65,000 in around 5 minutes. A typical 2-group machine + grinder package finances around $40-70 per week.
